My name is Donald Green. I am a retired senior, nearing my mid-80's. I am also a cancer survivor. I have been a member of the local YMCA, here in my hometown of Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador, for a number of years.
At the beginning of this year, for the benefit of my health, I embarked on a journey across our beautiful island at the YMCA - a distance of 905 KM from St. John's to Port aux Basques.
Then, the thought occurred to me - why not use this as an opportunity to raise funds for The Gideons, an organization of which I have been a long-time member. The passion of The Gideons is to share God's Word with people all over the world, especially in countries where the demands are so great, such as China and Malawi. Hence, my project, "Bike for Bibles."
I have set a goal of $10,000. At a cost of $5 for Scripture, this would enable The Gideons to place 2,000 copies of God's Word in the hands of those still waiting.
I humbly and prayerfully appeal to everyone for your support in this endeavor, especially that of my fellow Gideon members across Canada. There is no greater gift we can give to the needy, hurting people than a copy of God's Word!
Update from Don, February 20th:
"As of Friday the 17th, I have biked 212km. Many thanks for your words of encouragement and your donations towards this special project. Very much appreciate it. God Bless, Don"
