The Gideons International In Canada is seeking a Regional Manager with proven experience in managing people and delivering results. This individual is a key member of the Programs department within the Gideon organization and must have a passion to see God’s Word distributed in Canada and worldwide.

The Regional Manager (RM) is responsible to provide leadership to the operational aspects of the ministry within their region, with the goal of and accountability for achieving the annual goals and objectives with the support of the Area Leadership Team. The RM works to develop and support the implementation and achievement of strategic and operational plans, goals and priorities for the Districts and Chapters within their Region. 

The RM’s main objectives are to grow and strengthen the Gideon ministry, its membership and impact with local communities, churches, and partners, working alongside the Area Leadership Team to collaboratively facilitate the engagement of members in carrying out the ministry by providing coaching, technical assistance and personal involvement to members within the Area.

Key Responsibilities 

• Implement, initiate and execute Operational and Strategic Plans for the achievement of Annual Ministry Targets.

• Build a collaborative working relationship with the Area Leadership Team, working together to monitor ministry progress and to jointly support the Area focus and priorities, with the accountability of ensuring at annual goals and objectives are achieved.

• Support the members in their region and engage them with resources to achieve annual targets in four key areas of ministry: member recruitment, fundraising, church relations and Scripture Distribution.

• Lead in the development of the member training events and initiatives, ensuring the agenda and content reflects the direction of the national objectives of the ministry.

• Resource and train members in the recruitment of new members, while remaining actively engaged in personally recruiting of members. Host recruitment events and generate recruitment initiatives alongside members in the regional area.

• Provide mentorship to leaders within the region, cultivating potential leaders for service within Chapter, Area and National leadership roles

• Fundraising: assist and resource members in organizing fundraising events to meet annual fundraising targets for the region. Speak at events as requested/required.

• Church Relations: develop partnerships with local churches and pastors. Speak in churches on behalf of the Gideon ministry

• Scripture Distribution: provide training on and promote domestic and international Scripture distribution programs to members.

Regional Manager - Alberta

Financial Controller

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Financial Controller with a passion to see God’s Word distributed in Canada and worldwide.

Directly reporting to the Vice President of Business & Finance and working on and with the Business Team, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finances & accounting functions and will provide accurate and timely information for the organization, including analysis, budgeting, and financial reports. The Controller also maintains the company's accounting systems and implements changes as required, including recommending enhancements of operational and financial efficiencies.

Job Requirements

The Financial Controller is responsible for:

  1. Managing the accounting operations including the creation and review of journal entries, payroll, inventory, capital assets, and online & offline reconciliations.
  2. Providing advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, and new business endeavours as they relate to finances and accounting.
  3. Research and advise on International accounting functions alongside the VP.  Work with the VP to build accounting and financial administration structures in the global areas we are building ministry in.
  4. Managing the payroll function, including setting up of new hires, tracking days off and maintaining the data.
  5. Employee benefits and pension plan administration.
  6. Prepare, analyze and send monthly results for each department, and financial reports for our membership as required. 
  7. Bank reconciliations and preparation of cash flow reports and analysis as needed.  International wire transfers and managing foreign exchange transactions.
  8. Work with the Business Team to measure, analyze, and improve current processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency.

 

9. Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies.

10. Work with the VP to formulate budgets and input same into the accounting software, analyzing & implementing the spread of the budget throughout the fiscal year by month.

11. Work with external auditors on the annual audit.

12. Financial reporting to various companies and agencies (CCCC, Insurance, StatsCan, CRA)

13. Generation of reports of performance against budgets, including analysis and forecasting.

14. Supporting new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective.

15. With input from the VP, responsible for the formulation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.

16. Other related duties as required, including cross-training on donation revenue administration.

Skills Required

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills:

  • Strong financial and accounting skills, knowledge of accounting procedures and protocols.  A designation in accounting would be ideal.
  • Database software experience including customer relationship management (CRM) and accounting databases.  The Blackbaud suite of products is our main software system
  • Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records, payroll, pension, and the like
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and also good attention to detail
  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward the work at hand
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines

Key Responsibilities 

  • Effectively coach, mentor, support and develop global Regional Managers, by providing ongoing constructive feedback, one-on-one updates, training, effective delegation, and operational planning
  1. Lead regular and ad hoc staff meetings, devotions and key processes like budgeting and planning.
  2. Provide opportunities for staff feedback to encourage employee engagement, including implementing timely plans to respond to identified needs.

Co.op Administrator - Intern (Volunteer)

The Opportunity

The Gideons International In Canada is seeking a Co-op Administrator Intern with a passion to see God’s Word distributed in Canada and worldwide. 

Our Organization

Position Purpose

With the significant growth of co-op artists and an aggressive fundraising goal, the Co-op team requires a highly detailed administrator. The intern will provide administrative support that helps cultivate, develop and maintain all monthly donors (ShareWord Partners). This includes developing and proofing digital communications, list creation, managing our email system, running reports, responding to inquiries and much more.  The administrator will also support in areas such as event logistics and planning, order fulfillment, artist calendar organization, and data entry.

This intern may have an opportunity to participate at events, which may require travel.  (Note TGIC I SWG will cover the cost of travel expenses)

Reports to: Artist Partnerships Manager

Experience

Minimum of 1-year experience preferred working in the non-profit industry in administration, data entry, or customer service.

Must have strong writing and proofreading skills.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Provide administrative support for all activities related to ShareWord Partner acquisition.
  2. Support all duties related to event logistics and planning of all domestic co.op events.
  3. Administrative support related to artist and event contracts and communications.
  4. Intake of all incoming acquisition materials.
  5. Develop and manage result reports.
  6. Participate in developing efficiencies. 

Role Requirements 

  1. Execute ministry objectives in a timely manner and deliver the set goals and results.
  2. Have a high level of detail for event logistics and reporting.
  3. Strong customer service and telephone skills
  4. Must have a valid driver’s license (prefer access to a vehicle)
  5. Be available for a weekly one on one whether in office or via Skype.
  6. Be available to commit a minimum of 10 hours a week to the internship up to 40 hours.  Upon signing a contract consistent hours will be established.
  7. A successful candidate must commit to a 6 month or 12 month internship.

This individual will assist in the coordination and implementation of co.op events and programming focused on acquiring donors, bringing awareness and developing engagement. This coordinator will focus mainly on event coordination, logistics and administration.

Experience

One year of experience is preferred, working or studying within the non-profit industry with responsibilities involving event coordination, relationship management, fundraising, and program coordination.

Experience

One year of experience is preferred, working or studying within the non-profit industry with responsibilities involving event coordination, relationship management, fundraising, and program coordination. 

Key Responsibilities 

Assist in organizing events. This includes developing promotional plans, and working with the Marketing & Communication Teams on the execution.  Shipping materials eg.  Booth design, promotional materials, pens etc.

When and where necessary, participate at events.  This could include set up, tear down, volunteer coordination, proper use of materials, delivering media elements, reporting and all other duties required at the event.

  1. Coordinate and execute the logistics and planning of all co.op events.

  2. Contact churches and other venues to promote the co-op and look for opportunities to book artists 

  3. Intake of all donation forms.

  4. Tracking and reporting event results

  5. Look for opportunities to gain efficiencies

Role Requirements 

  1. Be available for a weekly one-on-one either in the office or via Skype.
  2. Be available to commit a minimum of 10 hours a week to the internship up to 40 hours.  Upon signing a contract consistent hours will be established.
  3. Successful candidate must commit to a 6-month or 12-month internship.
  4. Execute ministry objectives in a timely manner and deliver the set goals and results.
  5. Have a high level of detail for event logistics and reporting.
  6. Strong customer service and telephone skills
  7. Must have a valid driver’s license (prefer access to a vehicle)
  8. If candidate is outside of Ontario they may work remotely.  Being in office is preferred (Guelph).
  9. Possesses the necessary professional skills to promote the ministry at a high level to both the membership and Christian public.

Position Purpose

The Supporter Services Manager is responsible for contributing to the development of the Supporter Engagement team within TGIC that will actively participate in our aggressive growth plans. You will be responsible for working with the Director of Supporter Engagement to create a high performing team that will deliver premier customer service to our members, donors and church partners. Key Responsibilities

  1. Recruit, coach, manage and positively motivate a team of staff

You will be responsible for working with the Director of Donor Development and the Development team by supporting a high performance team that raises revenue in supporting TGIC growth. You will have ultimate accountability to deliver high quality proposals, grants, reports and minutes, which deliver the opportunity for new partnerships, heightened donor relationships, and new & increased revenue streams. You will do this through purposeful research, building deep staff and volunteer relationships for the gathering of field stories, and through staff and donor trip experiences where the impact of lives being changed has been witnessed.

You will also be responsible to provide training and service to the fundraising team – the Global Development Officers – on foundation proposals, grants, project proposals and summary reports.
