The Gideons International In Canada is seeking a full time Regional Facilitator for the Prairies, with a passion to see God’s Word distributed in Canada and worldwide.

Position Purpose

The Prairies Regional Facilitator is responsible for leading provincial growth initiatives that will achieve the ministry growth plans.  This includes a high degree of involvement in membership recruitment, securing and presenting at church services and organizing fundraising activities to meet the financial goals. They will also provide training and assistance to strengthen local member capabilities in these areas.

The Regional Facilitator is to provide the coaching and resources needed to help leaders and members reach the association’s goals in the following core program areas: Membership, Fundraising Events, Scripture Distribution and Church Relations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, initiate and manage the ministry plans and programs
  • Collaborate with the provincial leadership to create a provincial plan to grow the four core programs areas: Membership, Fundraising Events, Scripture Distribution and Church Relations.
  • Membership: organize and speak at recruitment events to invite men and women to join the Gideon ministry
  • Fundraising: organize and speak at fundraising events to raise funds for Scripture distribution
  • Church Relations: develop partnerships with local churches and pastors. Speak in churches on behalf of the Gideon ministry
  • Scripture Distribution: train on and promote domestic and international Scripture distribution programs
  • Accountable for on-going monitoring, evaluating and adjusting program initiatives, in conjunction with Provincial/Area Cabinet to ensure growth is achieved
  • Represent the ministry by responding to the needs of the memberships as it relates to ministry goals
  • Ensures the vision, policies, and procedures of the association are being followed.

  • Possesses the necessary highly developed interpersonal and relational skills to serve as part of a variety of teams, motivating each other towards common goals and mission, to interact and relate to the membership, and to foster relationships with outside associations and various contacts.
  • Possesses the necessary management skills in order to maintain accountabilities, process information, make decisions, organize workload, resolve conflicts, delegate responsibilities, and solve problems.
  • Possesses the necessary professional skills to promote the ministry at a high level to both the membership and Christian public.​

Financial Controller

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Financial Controller with a passion to see God’s Word distributed in Canada and worldwide.

Directly reporting to the Vice President of Business & Finance and working on and with the Business Team, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finances & accounting functions and will provide accurate and timely information for the organization, including analysis, budgeting, and financial reports. The Controller also maintains the company's accounting systems and implements changes as required, including recommending enhancements of operational and financial efficiencies.

Job Requirements

The Financial Controller is responsible for:

  1. Managing the accounting operations including the creation and review of journal entries, payroll, inventory, capital assets, and online & offline reconciliations.
  2. Providing advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, and new business endeavours as they relate to finances and accounting.
  3. Research and advise on International accounting functions alongside the VP.  Work with the VP to build accounting and financial administration structures in the global areas we are building ministry in.
  4. Managing the payroll function, including setting up of new hires, tracking days off and maintaining the data.
  5. Employee benefits and pension plan administration.
  6. Prepare, analyze and send monthly results for each department, and financial reports for our membership as required. 
  7. Bank reconciliations and preparation of cash flow reports and analysis as needed.  International wire transfers and managing foreign exchange transactions.
  8. Work with the Business Team to measure, analyze, and improve current processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency.

 

9. Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies.

10. Work with the VP to formulate budgets and input same into the accounting software, analyzing & implementing the spread of the budget throughout the fiscal year by month.

11. Work with external auditors on the annual audit.

12. Financial reporting to various companies and agencies (CCCC, Insurance, StatsCan, CRA)

13. Generation of reports of performance against budgets, including analysis and forecasting.

14. Supporting new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective.

15. With input from the VP, responsible for the formulation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.

16. Other related duties as required, including cross-training on donation revenue administration.

Skills Required

The ideal candidate would possess the following skills:

  • Strong financial and accounting skills, knowledge of accounting procedures and protocols.  A designation in accounting would be ideal.
  • Database software experience including customer relationship management (CRM) and accounting databases.  The Blackbaud suite of products is our main software system
  • Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records, payroll, pension, and the like
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and also good attention to detail
  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward the work at hand
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines

The Development Officer is responsible for prospecting and developing relationships that aid in acquiring new donors and soliciting funds from new, existing donors, corporations and foundations that will meet the supporter’s philanthropic wishes and achieve the ministry growth plans.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Prospect potential donors, corporations and foundations
  • Develop relationships with current donor portfolios to deepen and broaden existing philanthropy commitments
  • Acquire, cultivate and grow new donors and foundations
  • Develop and implement strategies that will open up new donor markets with the primary focus on multi-cultural sectors
  • Steward and provide opportunities to engage donors so they grow increasingly committed to the ministry
  • Solicit and acquire funds to meet annual financial goals
  • Plan, participate in the creation of and edit personalized, compelling project proposals to various audiences
  • Promote and encourage donors to participate in our Legacy Giving program
  • Innovate - undertake research, analyze data and make recommendations regarding new opportunities and ventures which can enhance the ministry and which can lead to new revenue sources and increased giving 
  • Recruit, coordinate and participate in ministry trips with major donors  
  • Other duties as required

Programs Administrator - SendMe

The Opportunity

The Gideons International In Canada is seeking an Administrator with proven experience in administration as an Administrative Assistant. This individual is a key member of the Programs Department within the Gideon organization and must have a passion for seeing God's Word distributed in Canada and worldwide.

Our Organization

The Gideons International In Canada (TGIC) is an organization of vibrant, passionate men and women who seek to encourage and equip believers and churches to reach their communities and the world with the gospel through the sharing of God’s Word. Established in 1911, the 105-year old ministry has rapidly transformed itself for growth and global impact.

TGIC continues to create innovative ways of reaching more people with the gospel, using tools like the NewLife app (newlife.bible), creating Scripture magazines like Hope, Light and Redemption, and launching a youth arm called SendMe (sendme.ca). In August 2015, TGIC launched their international brand, ShareWord Global. Position Purpose

The Programs Department facilitates TGIC’s domestic ministry, equipping members and churches in personal evangelism through the distribution of Scriptures, along with cultivating partnerships, fundraising, training and membership development. The Programs Department also facilitates engagement with targeted ministry demographics, including our youth initiative, SendMe.

This position’s primary focus is supporting SendMe through the administration of processes, information, development, events and reporting along with providing engagement and support of SendMe participants. This position also contributes to supporting the Programs Department in accomplishing its overall goals and objectives in a collaborative, team environment.

Job Type: Full-time at TGIC Head Office in Guelph, Ontario.

Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking a high-energy, relational and gifted individual to join us in the Programs Department. The candidate must be detail-oriented, extremely organized, have the ability to manage and distribute information and be administratively minded. This individual will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to general administrative coordination in the Programs Department and with our targeted youth ministry, SendMe. Excellence in customer service is valued and pertinent in all activities. 

Experience

  • 2-3 years demonstrated administrative ability in a business or non-profit environment.
  • Proven experience in project coordination, and a team mentality in accomplishing objectives.
  • Post Secondary Education, Office Administration/Assistant diploma, and Project Management certification an asset. 

Job Requirements

The SendMe Administrator’s primary responsibility is to support the VP of Programs and Programs Department administratively, to achieve the Department’s goals and objectives. The requirements will vary but include the following:

  • Administrate SendMe program and liaise and provide support for program participants, including facilitating the shipment of orders and materials.
  • Project coordination and administration as identified by VP for events and conferences.
  • Liaising and facilitating cross-communication with other Departments.
  • Providing support to Programs Team and Gideon members as required.
  • Facilitating evangelism training and church relations as required.
  • Assist with fulfilling Scripture requests, as needed.

Administrative duties including:

  • Preparing and submitting data and reports.
  • Project coordination and administration as directed.
  • Data Entry, filing, data organization, manipulating statistical data, photocopying, and Word processing.
  • Organization of department materials, brochures, and media.
  • Managing agendas and taking minutes for meetings as required.
  • Devise and maintain process management systems as required.
  • Coordinating flow of information and data to coordinators, leaders, and VP.
  • Mailing and shipping as required.
  • Other Programs Department duties as needed.
