Soccer and the Gospel? Absolutely! This summer, The Gideons will be supporting churches in Ukraine in a nationwide evangelism campaign during the Euro2012 soccer tournament. You can help.
MISSION TO UKRAINE
Despite its long history of Christianity and the Bible, today's Ukraine desperately needs God's Word to help change that nation for Christ.
Modern secularism and atheism is eroding the moral fabric of the country. All of the known vices including alcohol and drug addictions, prostitution, and sexually transmitted diseases are having a devastating effect, especially on the youth of the country.
In response, over 2,800 local churches have chosen the Euro2012 soccer tournament as the time to reach out to their nation. Events like youth rallies, live streaming of game events, kids camps, soccer clinics, VBS park events, and other things like that will be run, all geared to presenting the gospel.
The Gideons International In Canada is sponsoring the printing of 100,000 Ukrainian New Testaments that will be shared during the Euro2012 tournament. And as was stated in a recent mailing, The Gideons is also sending a team of 12 members to work with the churches, supporting them in their vision for their nation. What an honour!
