Gideons have been active in Canada since 1911 and continue today to place Bibles in public places like hotels and hospitals. They also provide Bibles for prisons and distribute New Testaments to students in colleges, universities and public schools.

Here are some of the projects currently at work:

Northern Canada: Our brothers and sisters in northern Canada are close to our heart. We have recently partnered with Wasaya Airways to bring Scriptures to Northern Ontario, where hope and purpose is so needed. It was a privilege to connect men, women, boys and girls with God's Word. Gideons have also been bringing Scriptures to other northern communities across Canada.

Public Schools: While many regional school boards have decided to no longer allow The Gideons to give free New Testaments to students, some schools still have open doors. It is a great privilege for Gideons to be able to hand a Grade 5 student a copy of God's Word. We believe it will help them in their decision-making as they grow up and keep them tuned in to God's voice.

Hotels: As part of our centenary celebrations, Gideons are going to the hotels in their area and replacing old, worn out Bibles with new ones. We're still amazed at what we sometimes find in those old Bibles, and the messages that guests write in them. It's our desire that people have a positive experience with the Bible in the room--it may be the first Bible they've ever seen!
